Interview with Marek Rochlitzki, President of M&MR Trading Polska Sp.z o.o., published in the latest issue of the Kruszywa magazine (2/2021).

1. A year has passed since the outbreak of the pandemic, and the situation related to government restrictions is not easy for the economy and industry. How did TTM Technologia Transferu Mediów, Business Unit M&MR Trading Polska Sp. z o.o. deal with it?

MR: At the moment it is difficult to assess the long-term impact of the pandemic on our surrounding. However, one thing is certain – we must constantly adapt the organization of our work to the dynamically changing reality. So far i.a. we quickly noticed the potential of our teams to adapt to the new realities of work and market needs, and the employees had the opportunity to demonstrate entrepreneurship and creativity in the further development of the company.

We also perceive the time of the pandemic as a good moment to verify our values. This applies primarily to business relationships – now we are sure that relationships developed so far with our customers and suppliers, built on the principles of trust and partnership, work well even in crisis moments. As a result of the pandemic, our customers required us to immediately confirm the continuity of deliveries and appropriate stocking. Therefore, we contacted our suppliers and verified the logistics situation on an ongoing basis to ensure smooth deliveries. We managed to secure the goods not only in quantity and quality, but also at reasonable prices.

In addition, in the entire M&MR Trading Polska, we tried to adapt to the new standards of work organization so as to ensure maximum safety for our employees, as well as customers and suppliers. We reorganized the current method of stationary work and switched to a hybrid model. Most of the meetings that have so far been held face-to-face have been moved to videoconferencing.

We are aware that this is not the end of coronavirus struggle, but at the same time we are calm, because the protective measures we have taken are effective and did not affect the quality of our work – in 2020 we even recorded a slight increase in turnover compared to 2019. The acquired skills will stay with us for a very long time.

2. What is the current demand for TTM Technologia Transferu Mediów, BU M&MR Trading Polska Sp. z o.o.? Have there been any new trends, new preferences and customer purchasing behavior related to the pandemic?

Transferring work in many aspects to remote mode will certainly popularize the automation and robotization of certain business areas. Maintenance-free technologies and systems started to gain in value. Those that are not only easy and quick to install, but also do not require a team of employees who constantly operate and check the device. In the segment of conveyor belts, we see a special need for the possibility of maintenance-free belt monitoring thanks to the CBGuard Life Extender X6 scanner. The scanner has no moving parts, does not require contact with the conveyor belt and the data for every cubic millimeter of the belt is read in real time without help of specialists.

CBGuard Life Extender X6 scanners, which use X-rays, create a photographic image of each line and each joint with a quality previously known mainly from baggage scanners or radiological health diagnostics. Any changes to links are automatically logged and processed.

3. Does the maintenance-free conveyor belt scanner remain safe?

Scanners are safe and facilitate transfer processes – it is not without reason that similar devices are used, for example, at airports and in medicine.

CBGuard Life Extender X6 does not contain radioactive materials, the radiation source is an electric X-ray tube. When turned off, it stops emitting radiation. The housing of the device is properly insulated. In addition, a number of measures are to ensure that the device is not accessible to unauthorized persons. The security fence integrated with the system is responsible for closing the internal space around the scanner and keeping personnel in the external security zone while the scanner is working. The radiological emissivity of the scanner outside the fence is similar to that of airport security devices. Therefore, CBGuard offers a great opportunity to revolutionize production processes in mines or mining enterprises.

4. What are the investment plans of TTM Technologia Transferu Mediów, BU M&MR Trading Polska Sp. z o.o. for 2021?

The financial results for 2020 and the first quarter of 2021 show that we are going in the right direction. The decisions and investments we made in previous years give us great freedom to adjust to the investment plans of our partners. However, the current situation may change dynamically. Our most important task is therefore to closely observe the needs of companies from the industrial, chemical, fuel and food industries, as well as to take advantage of new opportunities that the market offers us at this specific time.

Currently, our offer covers the scope of works from the creation of a concept dedicated to the individual needs of the client, through the implementation and delivery of a complete project, to the technical acceptance of the installation by the Transportowy Dozór Techniczny [Transport Technical Supervision]. Thanks to the TDT qualifications, we have become one of the few companies in Poland that implement projects to modernize and build loading/ unloading devices. Therefore, in the near future, we want to promote our portfolio of services, incl. preparation of technical documentation of devices and installations for technical supervision, designing devices and installations according to individual customer needs, carrying out periodic warranty and post-warranty services, implementation or modernization of customers' devices or organization of the technical acceptance process by TDT.

First of all, we want to support our clients so that they receive a comprehensive, individual approach, which ultimately corresponds with the improvement of production processes and reduction of costs. Of course, all this while taking into account ecology and the principles of socially responsible business. These are our priorities for the future.
